About the Service

To sponsor a spouse or partner, the sponsor must be at least 18 years old, reside in Canada and sign a three-year financial support undertaking; the relationship must be genuine and not contracted for immigration purposes.

To sponsor a dependent child, the child must be under 22 years of age, single and without a common-law partner, or demonstrate continuous financial dependence since before that age due to a physical or mental condition.

To sponsor a parent or grandparent, the sponsor must demonstrate sufficient income, usually proven by their notices of assessment for the past three years, and agrees to provide for the basic needs of the sponsored person for 20 years.

Why choose this service?

The sponsor must be at least 18 years old, a Canadian citizen or permanent resident (or registered Indian), reside in Canada, not receive social assistance for reasons other than disability, and demonstrate financial capacity according to the sponsorship category being applied for. The sponsored person must meet Canada's eligibility requirements, including medical, security, and criminal record checks.
