About the Service
Audits are one of the main tools used by the Government of Canada to verify employer compliance. During an audit, officers may request payroll records, contracts, proof of recruitment, and evidence of working conditions. They may also interview workers or conduct on-site visits.
If an employer is found to be non-compliant, consequences may include financial penalties, public listing on the government’s website, repayment of wages, or a ban on hiring foreign workers for a specified period.
Audits are intended not only to identify violations, but also to encourage employers to maintain transparent, fair, and legally compliant practices. This system ensures accountability and strengthens confidence in Canada’s Temporary Foreign Worker programs.
