About the Service
The high-wage Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applies when the offered wage meets or exceeds the provincial median wage. Employers must submit a transition plan demonstrating their efforts to reduce the use of temporary foreign workers, pay current wages, and ensure compliance with workplace standards. Applications can cover up to three years of employment.
Why choose this service?
Canadian employers who hire foreign workers must prove that they operate a legitimate business in good standing, that they are able to pay the offered wage, that they will provide the promised working conditions, and that they will keep accurate records for inspection.
These obligations apply to all hiring programs, whether they are based on an LMIA or are exempt. However, they do not apply when the employer hires a person who already holds an open work permit, such as a post-graduation work permit, a spousal open work permit, an International Experience Canada Working Holiday permit, or a bridging open work permit.
